Adopt a Rising Star
The National Academy Orchestra of Canada is Canada's only Professional Training Orchestra and is recognized as a Canadian National School for its highly effective apprenticeship pairing of young graduated musicians with seasoned mentor musicians from Canada's finest orchestras. Apprentices come from every province and territory in Canada to live and work in the Hamilton/Halton area for 9 weeks a year. Hundreds of outstanding potential 'stars', audition from across Canada for one of 45-50 spots in the orchestra. The NAO program fills the gap between their theoretical education and the practicality required for 'real world' job prospects.
The addition of the BrottOpera component to Brott Music has offered yet another opportunity for the NAO musicians to extend their skill sets. Performing opera requires a very particular orchestral techniques and to play under such an accomplished operatic Artistic Director is a learning experience par excellence.
We urge you to ADOPT one of the NAO's brilliant apprentices or "Rising Stars." You may choose the individual, the prefeered instrument or the section of the orchestra.
